KC Riverfront Heritage Trail Opening and Commemoration

Ribbon cutting during the trail opening

On November 29, 2012, the KC Riverfront Heritage Trail commemorated the opening of the Bi-State Freedom Trail extending from the Freedom Mall to Kansas City, Kansas, and the opening of the Riverfront Heritage Trailhead.

Kansas City Mayor Sly James and Unified Government Mayor Joe Reardon joined other community leaders in the celebration.

The celebration opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the Trailhead, followed by a dinner and program to recognize the main contributors and key players in the development of the 15-mile trail.

The Trail project began in 2002. It begins at the riverfront and winds through the oldest and most historic parts of bi-state Kansas City.
